Date/time (local) | Latitude | Longitude | Notes |
08/10/15 02:30:56 | 43.2123 | -62.1500 | short, loud, isolated downsweeps in panels 6 and 14 in the 100 - 200 Hz range. A longer, blocky downsweep in panel 4. |
08/10/15 02:45:56 | 43.2108 | -62.1482 | what is sound in panel 7? |
08/10/15 03:30:56 | 43.2171 | -62.1507 | Downsweep in panel 2 followed by unknown sounds. Upcall in panel 5? Frequency band looks right, shape ok, faint and isolated but not classified. Possible LF tonals in panels 15, 16. |
08/10/15 04:30:56 | 43.2158 | -62.1379 | Possible LF tones in panels 12 and 13. Short upcall in panel 14? |
08/10/15 06:45:56 | 43.2005 | -62.1236 | short loud downsweep in panel 5 |
08/10/15 07:30:56 | 43.1961 | -62.1189 | What are sounds in panel 14? |
08/10/15 07:37:35 | 43.1961 | -62.1189 | Two 100 - 200 Hz downsweeps in panel 10 that are unclassified. |
08/10/15 08:30:56 | 43.1909 | -62.1135 | Faint 100 - 200 Hz downsweep in panel 4? Shape is blocky with another faint call underneath, not too convincing. |
08/10/15 09:45:56 | 43.1828 | -62.1047 | One very loud, long downsweep at 100-250 Hz with harmonic in panel 4 |
08/10/15 10:30:56 | 43.1776 | -62.0996 | In panel 15, another downsweep similar to last record, loud with harmonic, shorter but in same frequency band |
08/10/15 11:30:56 | 43.1752 | -62.0916 | Loud 400-600 Hz downsweep in panel 9. |
08/10/15 13:30:56 | 43.1672 | -62.1056 | In panel 16 there is a nicely shaped, loud, classified sei whale downsweep. There may possibly be a second one 17 seconds earlier that was broken up. |
08/10/15 14:30:56 | 43.1640 | -62.1151 | Loud downsweep in panel 10 with harmonic? Harmonic is very loud though. It looks like the harmonic and fundamental were run together in the pitch tracking. What is sound in panel 9? |
08/10/15 16:30:56 | 43.1920 | -62.1340 | 2 classified upcalls not seen - boo! What are sounds in panels 4 and 9? |
08/10/15 17:30:56 | 43.1890 | -62.1449 | Two classified upcalls not convincing - they are occurring in the midst of a lot of low frequency noise such that I cannot even tell which part of the noise has been classified in the second call.
Are the records becoming noisier? |
08/10/15 18:30:56 | 43.1860 | -62.1559 | Downsweep in panel 11?
Classified upcall not isolated, not very good shape (too blocky, not smooth), same amplitude as calls around it. Not convinced. |
08/10/15 19:30:56 | 43.1831 | -62.1673 | There appears to be something calling in this record, making a fin whale-type pulse train w/ 9sec IPI but none classified as fin. The classified sei whale call in panel 2 may be part of that fin-type pattern, although in panel 2 the pattern includes what appear to be a lot of broken-up calls. Not at all convinced that the classified call is a sei. There are also several other unclassified downsweeps in panels 2, 3, 5 and possibly 6. |
08/10/15 20:30:56 | 43.1962 | -62.1492 | This is a noisy record, but doesnt appear to occur near the surface. There are a few unclassified downsweeps in panels 4 and 5. The right whale upcalls arent convincing. The first one is flat and looks similar to the end of a longer sweep made at 20:17:20 (what is that call?). Its reasonably loud and lower in amplitude than the calls around it, but given the broad range of noise all over this record Im not very convinced that this is real upcall.
The second call is even less convincing, it looks just like the other rudder noise around it. |
08/10/15 21:30:56 | 43.1931 | -62.1602 | Another really noisy record that doesnt appear to occur at the surface.
Five upcalls were classified, I get to see 2 of them. The second one in panel 5 is beautiful, loud, isolated, nice shape and classified. That puts me to 'possibly detected'.
Unfortunately the first upcall in panel 1 is not convincing at all; it is occurring with a lot of other noise, and the shape is no good - the end of the call flattens and even decreases a bit in frequency.
There are a few short upsweeps and downsweeps in the record in panels 1-3. |
08/10/15 22:30:56 | 43.1902 | -62.1705 | The classified upcall does not appear in the record. |
08/10/15 23:30:56 | 43.1872 | -62.1799 | Another noisy record.
The classified upcall is really nicely shaped, and maybe a little quiet but still decent amplitude. It is not isolated and is the same frequency and amplitude as other sounds about 10 second earlier, as well as some very low frequency tones throughout. So, its a 3/4 but in this case that surrounding noise makes me really suspicious and there are no other upcalls in the record. |
